Creative competition for foreign-speaking youth "Our Common Future in Estonia"

The Ministry of the Interior announces the creative competition "Our Common Future in Estonia", the purpose of which is to involve foreign-speaking young people to think, dream and create content in various formats that speaks about their vision of the future of Estonia and the cohesion of society offering solutions that help unite Estonian society.

The deadline for the submission of competition works was 10th November 2022.

All young people between the ages of 14 and 23 who live in Estonia can take part in the competition.

Competition works (text, images, video, other necessary materials) and a brief description along with the author's contact information must be submitted via the website of the Ministry of the Interior.

The competition is held separately for young people aged 14–18 and 19–23. The three best entries from both age groups will ultimately be determined. The competition prizes are financial grants. The best works (all in all, up to six – three in each age category) will be awarded 500 euros.

The format and genre of the competition works is free. The competition work can be an essay, journalistic text or video (interview, story of essence or other journalistic genre), research work and paper, graphic novel, animation, short film, visual artwork, works in other multimedia formats.

In the frame of the competition, entries that meet the purpose of the competition will qualify for assessment. The content and impact of the competition works must be aimed at increasing the cohesion of Estonian society.

The competition work can be submitted in Estonian, Russian, Ukrainian and English.

Competition works are to be submitted in electronic form. Along with the visual works, a text explaining the theme and concept of the competition work is to be presented.

The competition work submitted to the competition must be created specifically for this competition. The work must not have been previously published anywhere.

The media partner of the competition is the Russian-language media publication Rus.Postimees, where the winning works of the competition will be published.

The winners of the competition will be announced at the Citizen’s Day’s festive thanksgiving event on 28 November 2022. The winners will be invited to the event and will be notified by email at the addresses specified when submitting the competition work. The names of the award winners will be published on the websites of the Ministry of the Interior and a partner media publication.
